What I've learned so far...
Yesterday marks one month since I was diagnosed. Thank you so much for all the prayers, hugs, gifts, scripture, volunteering to help and positive affirmations. I've learned a few things so far..
1. Breast Cancer is only 5 to 10% hereditary, get a gene test done, take care of your body, listen to your body and ask your doctor if you have any concerns. Fight for yourself.
2. If someone is going through CANcer, do not tell them stories of people you know that have died, had it come back or anything else. Fear is already within them and they need positive, life speaking stories and if you dont have that, just say something kind.
3.Our village has blown us away, I had no idea so many loved us. If you have a good friend or someone you love, reach out for no reason and let them know. Its so amazing and uplifting.
4. We already knew this but,GOD IS GOOD. Not only because of all those praying but because He is good, He has given Austin and I incredible peace. Yes, fear comes in waves but over all 99% of the time I know I am in HIS hands and He has given me peace that I will get to see my babies grow up. He has sent me affirmations about my surgery,my doctors and my life continually through strangers. If you dont have Jesus in your heart ask Him to come into your life. You can pray no matter who you are or what you've done,He loves you.
5. NO ONE is invincible, I am the healthiest Ive been since Waylon was born. Finding out this was inside me was a dark day. We've began taking measures to clean up our diet, clean up the air in our home and our products. We have a few pages we've followed on Instagram and a group here on FB who are helping us swap things out. May sound silly but when CANcer shows up, you'll do anything to keep it away and protect your family.
Breast Cancer doesn't run in our family, I'm only 31 and never been more excited to grow old and see my kids grow up with my amazing husband.
